Premium Bank Opens Officially To The Public

On Monday 12th December 2016, Premium Bank Ghana Limited was officially inaugurated to the public.

Premium Bank, formally known as City Investments Company Limited (CIC), secured the Bank of Ghana’s approval to commence business as a bank on 20th April, 2016. The institution has been therefore been granted the license to offer various banking services to its customers. An opening ceremony was conducted to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Mr. Kwasi Tumi, the Managing Director of Premium Bank, was present at the ceremony, along with the board of directors, heads of department, distinguished guests and staff personnel. During his speech, he thanked the entire audience present for the effort, sacrifices and hard work put into making this feat of licensing the bank possible. In a press conference, he noted that the bank will be focusing mostly on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Our focus is purely SME. We have dealt with them for over 20 years and we are not going to get into competition with the big boys. Our unique job is to serve the SMEs,” he said.

He also underlined the importance of the deployment of technology as a platform to enroll the unbanked population into the banking system through means such as mobile money. “We have been dealing with small businesses and even though the bank is a full-fledged one, we will not deviate from that. We are the mobile money people and through that we will give the unbanked population products that will bring people in.”

Furthermore, he stated that Premium Bank are ready to meet any change in the Central Bank’s minimum capital requirement and assured the press that the shareholders are preparing themselves to guarantee the stability of the bank in its new era.

Today, Premium Bank operates two banking branches: the Accra Main, and Takoradi branches with the Head Office in Osu. It comprises of a strong work force employees, selected with a mixture of high academic qualifications, experience, professionalism and young, budding talents with the hunger and desire to work.
